Once upon a time my sister Pat had a great idea.  She said, “Let’s start a bar!”.  “We’ll serve fine wines, liqueurs, beers, and delicious appetizers, like those places you love to visit in Italy and Germany - a real European Style Wine Bar!”

I thought, “Hmmm, not a bad idea.“

She continued, “And just to make sure we have exactly the right atmosphere - no television!  We’ll play some nice mellow music - let’s even have live entertainment!  In the winter, on the weekends, but in the summer, we can do it every night we’re open!”

I thought, “She’s thinking way too far ahead of me.”   I needed to come up with something quick (other than my checkbook) - so she’d remember I had a brain as well as (aging) looks!

“How about live theater every other month or so on our ‘off’ nights!?”, I said. “I could pick the plays, direct and act in them and Bobby and Susie could help with the sets and little Timmy could sell the tickets!”  (OK, there was no Bobbie or Susie or little Timmy, but you get my drift.)

A long silence greeted my excited interjection, followed by some arguing, lots of phone calls, explanations - oh, and writing a check - but finally the matter was settled and The Vine Wine Bar in historic Plymouth Massachusetts was born.  And it’s funky, fun offshoot, The Theater at Hollywood & Vine skyrocketed to fame! (Well. . . maybe with only 24 seats, it just firecrackered a little.)

In our fifth year now, we produce great quality, short one-acts plays - about 50 to date - usually two in one seating with wonderful local actors.  Our audiences rave!    So come join us in OUR NEW LOCATION AT 47 COURT ST.!  Check out this site for info on our next show.  We fill up fast, so call early for reservations: 508-830-1942.

The small group of owners includes my sisters Pat and Pam and our good friend Lisa One.  We all work very hard and drag in as many other family members as we can conjure - Alex, Jade, Lisa Two, Pamela, etc.  Me? Oh, I wait tables, wash dishes, play Scrabble, stand behind the bar on slow nights, and take out the garbage, but mostly I’m the Artistic Director and (of course) Leading Man. . .
